Princess Xenia is back to St.-Petersburg!

Every year the organizers of the “Doll Time” Exhibition invite one especial doll – V.I.D. – very important doll in the doll world. This is a rare, unique, valuable doll, with great history; the doll which very few people saw and very few will see somewhere out of the exhibition; the doll from a private or a museum collection. In December the invited guest is the porcelain doll by the famous German artist Hildegard Gunzel “Russian Princess Xenia”.

This history began exactly 100 years ago. In 1908 Great Russian Prince George Romanov presented to his four-year daughter Xenia a mohair bear of "Steiff” company for Christmas . Xenia loved it very much and left it alone very seldom. Therefore in 6 years when she went to England to visit her cousin king George V, she took the favorite bear with her. As the fates decree, Xenia never returned to Russia. At first - the First World War, and then, Bolshevist revolution and destruction of all imperial family.

Being filled with this touching story about the girl and her favorite bear, Hildegard Gunzel (one of the most known doll masters in the world) created a magnificent composition for Echelle company – «Princess Xenia and her favorite Teddy-bear Alfonso».

And here, after many years Princess Xenia comes to St.-Petersburg to the International Exhibition of dolls and Teddy-bears «Doll Time in St.-Petersburg ¹2 – WINTER»

The doll Xenia and a limited edition of teddy-bears Alfonso were created especially for Russia.

The unique opportunity to see and buy this doll will have the visitors of the “Doll Time” Exhibition. We want to believe that Xenia will stay in St.-Petersburg.

We started prepare the art album «Dolls in Petersburg» - art photos of dolls and bears with elements of a city landscape, architectural details of St.-Petersburg, symbols and sights, characteristic for a city on Neva. All photos of an art album will be considered by the organizing committee and according to the general concept of an album are accepted or not accepted to the free publication. Photos are accepted in electronic form in the size not less than 300 dpi on CD or by e-mail dolltime@yandex.ru The number of photos from one author is not limited. To the participation in the project all interested persons, no matter if participants or not of the “Doll Time”, are supposed. Photos are not reviewed.
